The "Young Champions on Ice" Program is a U.S. Figure Skating Bridge Program.  The program guides and develops the aspiring figure skater from the Learn to Skate USA Basic Skills Program (formally known as the U.S. Figure Skating Association Basic Skills Program) into the nationally recognized testing and qualifying competition structure governed by U.S. Figure Skating (USFS).  U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States.  U.S. Figure Skating is a member of the International Skating Union (ISU), the International Federation for Figure Skating, and is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC).

Skaters transition from the Learn to Skate USA Basic Skills Membership Program into the Young Champions on Ice U.S. Figure Skating Introductory Membership Program via the Rocky Mountain Figure Skating Club (RMFSC) and finally into the RMFSC U.S. Figure Skating Full Membership Program.

Benefits of the Young Champions on Ice Program

The program encourages additional training and involvement in special events such as participating on the YCOI Figure Skating Competition Team at Basic Skills competitions and in exhibitions and ice shows.  YCOI participants are eligible for the introductory private lessons, introductory RMFSC membership and offered discounted freestyle sessions all at an affordable cost.  The program educates parents new to the sport of figure skating and acts as a prerequisite to the competitive figure skating program (U.S. Figure Skating Testing and Competition Pipeline).  The group class setting provides social interaction between skaters fostering new friendships and having fun.

Young Champions on Ice Sessions

The Young Champions on Ice program offers classes throughout the year.  Our next session of our Young Champions on Ice is our Holiday on Ice Exhibition and practices for the group numbers will begin on Tuesday, November 6th.  Registration is now open!  To register online, please use the link below.  Phone-in and walk-in registrations are also available Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:30pm.

Holiday on Ice Exhibition

Friday, December 14th from 4:00pm-5:45pm

Learn to Skate Group Number Rehearsal Practices will be on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-6:15pm

November 6th - December 11th with no practice on Nov. 20th (5 weeks) ~ $85.00

Learn to Skate Skaters and figure skaters of all levels are invited to perform in a group number exhibition for family and friends!  Skaters will have five 30 to 45 minute rehearsal practices.  Rehearsal practices will be weekly on Tuesdays from 5:30pm-6:15pm on the Red Rink starting November 6th through December 12th with no practice on November 20th.  The skaters will then perform their group number performances at the Holiday on Ice Exhibition on Friday, December 14th from 4:00pm-5:45pm.  Groups will be divided into groups of three skaters or more and will be divided by level and then if possible, by age.  Each group will have a coach choreographing the routine.  Coaches that are assigned to each group will decide on the music and costumes.  Costume fees are not included in the registration fee, but each group will try to keep the cost to a minimum.  Costume decisions will be made at the practices with the coach.

All skating parents and skaters are asked to look for additional Holiday on Ice Exhibition updates on the Figure Skater's Locker Room class window as the performance date becomes closer.  Additional information will include the show order of performances, when to arrive to the rink on performance day, final schedule of warm up ice and approximate performance time for each group number and soloists, etc.  The show may start earlier than 4:00pm depending on number of solo acts, but all of the Learn to Skate Group Numbers will perform between 4:00pm-5:45pm.  Share the joy by invitiing family and friends!  The exhibition is free to the public so the more the merrier!

Figure Skaters - Solo and Duet Performances ~ $12.00

All contracted figure skaters are welcome to perform a solo or duet in our upcoming Holiday on Ice Exhibition!  Skaters will be responsible for their own music, choreography and costumes.  Music programs are not to exceed 1 minute and 30 seconds and you are not required to do holiday music.  We have a set number of time slots available from 4:00pm-5:45pm and once those spots are filled, we will open up more spots starting at 3:30pm..........make sure to sign up early!  Registration deadline will be Wednesday, November 21st.  Watch for updates on the Holiday Exhibition on the Figure Skating Locker Room class window as the show date gets closer.
